FUN FOR THE Litle One
The department’s frst youth program specialist, Shelli Scott, developed a full range of new programs for the youngest kids, newborns to fve-year-olds. “It’s an age group that there are lot of cool things that can be done for them,” said Michelle Gill-Mofat, Parks and Recreation’s superintendent of youth services. Parks and Recreation’s recently adopted master plan, Plan2Play, found that there was a dearth of oferings specifcally designed for babies and toddlers. Plan2Play’s also pinpointed a need for STEAM education and a local interest nature activities. Residents said they wanted to “get out and connect with nature.” This summer’s activities include child-friendly hikes, craft classes at regional parks around the city, story and craft time at Gateway Gardens, outdoor yoga class, and creek exploration. See the program guide listing on page 17 for full program details.
GET OUT AND CONNECT WITH NATURE! There is nothing as limitless as the energy of a young child. It’s exhausting. Caregivers must have equal amounts of creativity to fnd new and exciting ways to expend it. No worries – Greensboro Parks and Recreation has a solution for that.
