Annual Leave Number: F-1 Revision: 15 Effective Date: 07-01-2024 1.0 POLICY T he City of Greensboro provides Annual Leave with pay for all benefit eligible positions. 2.0 PURPOSE T he intent of this leave is to provide for paid periodic absences from work to enhance the health and well being of City employees as well as to maintain a competitive stance in the market for recruitment and retention of employees. 3.0 SCOPE This policy applies to all benefit eligible employees. 4.0 DEFINITIONS 4.1 Annual Leave - Earned leave that may be taken for vacation purposes or for other personal reasons that may not be covered by other leave policies. 4.2 Benefit Eligible - Full time (FT) and part time (PT) employees who are eligible for coverage and participation in the City’s benefit programs in addition to legally mandated coverage. See the appendix document, Position Types on page 428. 4.3 Paid Time-Off (PTO) - Paid time-off recorded in the City time-keeping system. 4.4 Probationary Period - The probationary period is a “trial period” during which the supervisor determines whether the new employee is suitable for and is able to acceptably meet the City’s job performance and behavioral expectations for the position. It is the benefit eligible employee’s initial period of employment. The duration of a probationary period is typically the initial six months of service, but may be longer for specific jobs requiring more extensive training processes and closer supervision. 5.0 ORGANIZATIONAL RULES 5.1 Annual Leave Earnings
