location. 5.0 ORGANIZATIONAL RULES

5.1 To ensure that the City of Greensboro ensures a workplace conducive to efficiency and productivity, departments may set standards that are appropriate for their work environment according to the work and residents they serve. This policy provides guidance on standards regarding employees’ appearance as defined. Employees are protected from harassment and discrimination based on other City policies which may include appearance (i.e. headdress, hair textures and hair styles, skin color). See your assigned departmental Employee Success Partner for additional guidance. 5.2 The City of Greensboro is sensitive to employees and their possible adverse reactions to fragrance/scent in the workplace. Employees are prohibited from using or bringing onto the premises natural or artificial scents that could be distracting or problematic to others who may have a sensitivity. Scented personal products (such as fragrances, colognes, lotions and powders) that are perceptible to others outside one’s personal space should not be worn by employees. Other scented products (scented candles, potpourri, scented cleaning products, scented aerosol sprays and similar items) are also not to be used in a manner that exposes other employees to the odor. 6.0 PROCEDURES 6.1 Any employee or department with questions about interpreting this policy, contact your assigned departmental Employee Success Partner . The Employee Success Partner will work with the employee and department to reach a solution. 6.2 Employees required by medical necessity to use medicinal lotions or skin creams that contain odors perceptible to others may request a reasonable accommodation from their supervisor, manager or the P&C Department. 7.0 PEOPLE & CULTURE CONTACT Employee Success Partnership 8.0 APPENDIX and APPENDICES None
