employee performed services for the employer and repay all retirement benefits received until that date; or • The member will be required to make a lump sum payment to NCLGERS equal to three times the compensation earned during the month immediately following the effective date of retirement. 6.4 Termination of Employment without Retirement A. If an employee terminates City employment with less than five (5) years of creditable membership service, the employee may, but is not required to, apply for a refund of contributions to the retirement system. B. The employee must file Form 5 in order to receive a refund of contribution. C. By State law, contributions will be returned in no less than sixty (60) and no more than ninety (90) days after receipt of the application by the Retirement System. D. The employee’s termination of employment will be transmitted electronically to the NCLGERS within 30 days of termination. E. Individuals of retirement age who withdraw funds are not considered retirees regardless of length of service. 7.0 PEOPLE & CULTURE CONTACT Benefits
