05 Vandalia Road Reconfiguration Work with the community and GDOT to better understand boundaries of “road diet” location for Vandalia Road between Hwy 220 and S Elm Eugene, to be completed the next time streets are scheduled to be resurfaced. 06 Transit Service Improvement Improve transit service and connections within the study area. » Implement the Crossmax Orange high frequency route on Randleman Road and Elmsley Drive. ○ Upgrade bus stops to include benches and shelters, starting first with high-use stops. » Reassess existing bus stop locations; relocate as needed. » Add rideshare pickups and micro-mobility vehicle service to bus stops. » Ensure transit stops are ADA accessible. » Implement recommendations of the Better Bus Stop Plan (plan currently underway). » Expand accessible pedestrian connections to bus stops. 07 Truck Route Implementation and Enforcement Implement and enforce truck routes to limit freight traffic in neighborhoods. » Explore strategies to reduce or limit truck traffic on predominantly residential streets. » Sign Glendale Road for no truck traffic; work with neighborhood groups who express a willingness to assist in monitoring and reporting. 08 Neighborhood Traffic Management Program Promote the next round of Neighborhood Traffic Management Program applications for streets in the study area that qualify and explore speed limit reductions on additional streets.
09 Roadway Safety Programs Implement Vision Zero or Safe System Approach countermeasures and strategies in key locations in the study area. 10 Roadway Improvement Project Awareness and Communication Promote and maintain a dashboard of transportation improvement projects and their status. 11 I-40 Interchange Project Coordination Coordinate with the community and NCDOT on project I-5965 (Interstate I-40/I-85 Business roadway project at three major interchanges in the study area: Randleman Road, South Elm Eugene, and US-421/Patton Ave. 12 Reduce Flooding on Roadways Explore ways to improve the resiliency of roadway systems in the study area to mitigate flood risk. 13 Strategic Bicycle and Pedestrian Connections Strategically create or improve connections between parks, greenways, neighborhoods, and attractions for cyclists and pedestrians. » Improve the greenway spurs at the end of Limerick Court and Rehobeth Court. Plan for art installation locations well in advance to avoid extra costs and disruptions; consider the need for art anchoring, sightlines, electricity, etc. early in the process. » Establish accessible pedestrian connections from community and neighborhood parks to the new sidewalks constructed on Vandalia Rd. (once completed). » Explore the feasibility and potential connectivity impact of small connections like the Limerick Court greenway spur in locations such as at the south side of the Oliver Drive cul-de-sac to Nestleway Drive.
