Recommendations Multimodal Street Network 01 Corridor and Gateway Aesthetics
Improve aesthetics and placemaking along main corridors and gateways. » Prioritize enhancements at three key intersections identified in the Randleman Road Plan: Vandalia, Glendale, and Creekridge intersections. » City staff work together to more clearly identify other gateway opportunities. » Explore the possibility of gateway treatments at I-40 interchanges at Randleman and S Elm Eugene, such as within the ramp loop or in the planted medians along S Elm Eugene. » Apply the City’s newly updated street design standards. » Consider adding signage recognizing reinvestment areas. » Extend Crossmax Orange Line branding to on-street infrastructure, such as signage and shelters at bus stops. » Continue to upgrade streetlights to LED lights. 02 Fill Gaps in the Sidewalk Network Identify and prioritize specific locations of gaps in sidewalk infrastructure. » Develop an implementation strategy that prioritizes high-need locations and sidewalk gap projects. » Evaluate and improve streetlights at key pedestrian locations, such as greenway crossings. » Consider high visibility crosswalks at any new uncontrolled intersection and at signalized intersections with high pedestrian volume, high pedestrian crashes, colocation with greenway or other shared use path – identify and prioritize any known locations. 03 Complete Streets Work with local and state transportation agencies to implement Complete Streets strategies as roadways are improved. » Prioritize improved pedestrian crossings based on safety metrics/ considerations within the study. » Implement bicycle lanes and shared-use paths as conditions permit.
