System Uptime/Downtime System uptime is critical for the 24/7/365 emergency operations center. PSIT strives for high availability, steady performance, and data integrity. Excluding planned downtime, GM911’s CAD and phone systems uptime did not fall below 99.99% in 2024.

Help Desk/Work Orders In addition completing projects and distributing equipment, the PSIT division completed more than 13,000 work orders in 2024, many of which were completed within 24 hours. Many of the work orders were addressed or completed after hours by on-call personnel. 13,000 The third quarter of 2024 included one of modern computing’s most-infamous cyber incidents. On July 19, cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike pushed a faulty update that crashed approximately 8.5 million Windows systems worldwide and disrupted services across various industries, including the City of Greensboro. PSIT responded to the incident and ensured critical systems coordinated resources until all affected machines/ servers were restored. Geographic Information System (GIS)

The PSIT Division employs GIS personnel responsible for updating geographic information for emergency and non-emergency responses. This critical data identifies a caller’s location and recommends the proper response by specific agencies. The information drives the division’s CAD system and allows responders to navigate efficiently to emergencies. PSIT staff works with various agencies to ensure current and accurate information. In 2024, GIS staff made significant changes noted below.
