change at any time at the sole discretion of the City Council and/or City Manager, or as City compensation polices, programs or practices are introduced, amended, or eliminated. 6.0 PROCEDURES 6.1 If selected for the position, the department will determine whether or not the former employee meets the conditions of re-employment at the previous salary. Any salary offered to a rehired employee above the Control Point must have the prior approval of P&C Compensation. 6.2 The department will notify the former employee of the salary decision in a written offer of employment. 6.3 Hiring officials who are unsure what salary is appropriate or allowed for the former employee upon rehire should contact P&C Talent Acquisition to discuss available options. 6.4 The hiring official must check all references including processing of a criminal background check before making a tentative offer of employment. The hiring official should also review the past personnel file for the former City employee. 6.5 Once the hiring official has made a conditional offer of employment to the former employee, the hiring official will inform the applicant of the need to pass a pre-employment physical which includes a drug screening test.
