Table of Contents A B C D E F H I J K L List of Appendices G • Minimum education and experience required • Information processing and latitude • Type and nature of contacts • Budget/financial impact and influence • Job skill and technical difficulty • Exposure to mental fatigue/stress and physical risk • Organizational level, supervisory scope, and number of supervisees 4.7 Position - A unique budget allocation to which an established set of duties and responsibilities (job) is assigned. 4.8 Reclassification - Change of a position from one classification to another classification based on characteristics of currently assigned duties. 5.0 ORGANIZATIONAL RULES 5.1 All reclassifications require approval by the P&C Department. 5.2 Positions are reclassified on the basis of a significant change in the nature of the work assigned to the position, changes in the job evaluation factors assigned to the position by P&C Compensation, and similarities of job and qualification requirements with other job classifications within the organization. Positions are not reclassified for situations in which additional responsibilities are assigned which are of the same type of work performed (i.e., due to increased volume of the same type of work). 5.3 When a position is reclassified to a job classification assigned to a higher control point, an incumbent employee will normally receive a reclassification salary increase. Managers may approve a salary adjustment within the salary range established for the new salary grade up to the range Control Point. No salary will be paid below the minimum of the salary range and the new salary will not exceed the new Control Point. 5.4 If a job is reclassified to a job classification assigned a lower control point, an incumbent employee will not normally have a decrease in salary. 5.5 No change in salary will accompany a change only in FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) status (Exempt/Non-Exempt). 5.6 A reclassification will be effective at the start of the first full payroll period following approval by the P&C Department. Reclassifications are not processed retroactively. 5.7 As an at-will employee, there is no guarantee of salary increases. All increases are subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of the City Council and/or City Manager, or as City
