Souvenirs and promotional items valued at $30 or less. G. Perishable gifts (e.g. flowers) that are displayed for the enjoyment of all employees in a work unit. H. City authorized employee discounts available to all employees. I. Souvenirs or monetary gifts of any value won at a raffle that is held at a conference, open house, educational seminar or other event so long as the event is open to the public or a substantial number of different jurisdictions so that the City employee is not being singled out. J. Travel, lodging and entertainment only if the employee is responsible for recruiting industry, trade, travel and tourism and the travel is for that purpose. K. Travel and lodging for an employee to attend a conference, user group or panel discussion only if the paying party is completely independent of a current or potential vendor of the City. L. Awards and honoraria when recognizing an employee’s achievement or service to a profession or organization. Must be of a nominal value not exceeding $30. 5.2 PROHIBITED Benefits, Gifts and Gratuities: All other benefits, gifts and gratuities are disallowed. By way of illustration, and not limitation, the following benefits, gifts and gratuities are prohibited: A. Provided by a vendor, contractor or someone engaging in activities that are regulated by the City given with the intention or appearance of influencing an employee over a business transaction or regulatory activity. B. City employees are the sole recipient. C. Entertainment involving any sporting event, unless the sporting event is sponsored or jointly sponsored by the City of Greensboro. D. Entertainment not available to the general public. 5.3 Favors and Influence A. A City employee shall not knowingly use the employee’s public position in any manner that will result in financial benefit, direct or indirect, to the employee, a member of the employee’s family or a person with whom, or business with which, the employee is associated. B. An employee will not mention or permit another person to mention the employee’s public position in commercial advertising, unless it refers to comments associated with a professional
