Table of Contents A B C D E F H I J K L TableofContents G A ll applicants for benefit-eligible and safety-critical positions, as designated below must pass a pre-employment physical examination, including a drug test prior to placement. In addition, certain positions are considered so critical to the health and safety of others that an employee cannot be placed in any of those positions (even if a current employee) without passing a pre- placement physical exam including a drug test. The positions listed below fall into this category. An employee moving into any of these safety-critical positions from a non-safety-critical position must take and pass a physical exam including a drug test before being promoted, transferred, or demoted into any of them. Employees moving from one safety-critical position to another safety-critical position will not be required to have a pre-placement physical examination. Currently, these positions are: 1. All positions requiring a CDL 2. Auto Mechanics and other Equipment Mechanics who repair or maintain equipment whose operations require an operator have a CDL 3. Emergency Communications Specialist, any level 4. Heavy Equipment Operator, any level 5. Employees involved in water treatment, wastewater treatment, operations and maintenance procedures 6. Plant Mechanic, any level 7. Solid Waste Collections Processes 8. All employees who work in City Medical Services 9. All employees working as Lifeguards 10. Police Officer, any rank except Police Officer II 11. Firefighter, any rank except Firefighter II 12. All employees working as Camp Counselors, Recreation Assistants, and other similar
