the career maximum limit will be reduced as follows: PT 20 shall not exceed 528 hours; PT 25 shall not exceed 660 hours; and a PT 30 shall not exceed 792 hours. 5.4 The total amount of City Manager’s leave for a part time employee during the course of his career with the City will be limited as follows: PT 20 shall not exceed 528 hours; PT 25 shall not exceed 660 hours; and a PT 30 shall not exceed 792 hours. If a part time employee moves to a full time position, the career maximum limit will be increased to 1,056 hours. 5.5 All of the following minimum requirements must be met for approval of City Manager’s leave. A. The eligible employee must have used all available sick leave. B. The eligible employee must have reduced his annual leave balance to no more than 40 hours for a full time employee. Part time employees must have reduced annual leave balances as follows: PT 20, no more than 20 hours; PT 25, no more than 25 hours; or PT 30, no more than 30 hours. C. The department director certifies, in writing, the employee has a reasonable leave record. D. The department director has advanced the maximum amount of sick leave that he is authorized to advance which equals 80 hours for a full time employee. The department director has advanced part time (PT) employees sick leave as follows: PT 20, 40 hours; PT 25, 50 hours, or PT 30, 60 hours. 5.6 City Manager’s leave may be granted in partial amounts, in increments or in total depending on the specific circumstances of the employee’s situation. Contingency restrictions may be included with an approval of City Manager’s leave. Once an employee returns to work, annual and sick leave balances will be the same as they were when the employee first started City Manager’s leave. 5.7 City Manager’s leave will not be granted for an injury by accident or illness sustained while engaged in outside employment. See the Outside Employment policy on page 50 in Section B. 5.8 City Manager’s leave cannot be used for an employee disabled in the course of duty. See the Workers’ Compensation policy on page 337 in Section J. See the Workers’ Compensation Absence Tracking policy on page 212. 5.9 City Manager’s leave qualifies for the 12-week FMLA entitlement; the City Manager’s leave granted and the FMLA entitlement will run concurrently. See the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) policy on page 203. 6.0 PROCEDURES 6.1 If physically able to do so, an employee is expected to notify his supervisor when he will be out of work for an extended period of time due to a serious illness or injury. 6.2 When the supervisor becomes aware of the serious, extended absence, he should review the
