South Greensboro Area Plan - Public Review Draft - 9.25.25

The plan framework shows several neighborhood parks and a “community heart” in the study area. The goal is to transform a selection of existing assets into community gathering spaces that provide programming that is inclusive and contemporary. The illustrated case study for Windsor Recreation Center and Nocho Park reimagined as a community heart is featured in the case study on the next page. The community heart concept can be applied to two locations in the study area. Plan2Play Community Heart

Plan2Play Action 3b involves the creation of “green infrastructure” by formally adopting the drainageways and designing them for water resilience. The illustrated concept for South Buffalo Drainageway improvements are in close proximity to the study area. The feasibility of such infrastructure to be extended into the study area should be further studied. Plan2Play Ecological Park

Draft

The citywide Urban Loop Trail is located in the northern portion of the study area. There are several planned and potential greenways that lead to this segment, which could be extended throughout the study area as part of a green systems network.

Plan2Splash calls for the future park on Short Farm Road to be an aquatics facility. This plan suggests additional access points be explored to better connect this planned facility to the study area.
