Recommendations Environment 01 Partner to benchmark and address any air quality concerns pertaining to interstate traffic and land use. 02 Seek opportunities to support local urban agriculture as a way of enhancing access to healthy food. » Partner with area non-profits and churches to support the sharing of information and resources for local community gardens. » Support participation in Guilford County’s Voluntary Agricultural Districts as a way of preserving local farming by providing information about that program for county (non-city) residents. 03 Preserve and enhance the urban tree canopy. » As roadways are improved, install street trees along major corridors as part of streetscape improvements where feasible given state law, maintenance, and safety concerns. » Support the Strategic Energy Plan goal of achieving no net loss of tree canopy throughout the City, including within the study area. » Work with area partners to pursue grant opportunities to do tree plantings, prioritizing non-invasive species, in neighborhoods with community participation and support. » Consider adding tree plantings along existing roadways where they can help buffer residential areas from highways, or other potential sources of light, noise, or air quality impacts.
