Brownfields A brownfield is a previously used site, often industrial or commercial, that may be contaminated and require cleanup before redevelopment. As commercial brownfield properties within south Greensboro are redeveloped, the environmental assessments that occur as a part of that process will provide an opportunity to address any residual concerns from past uses. Brownfield grants and funding from federal, state, and regional partners can help spur these properties into new, beneficial uses for the community.
