8 Repurposing parking spaces for seating, greenery, or bike parking can activate the street edge and support local businesses. Curb extensions also reduce crosswalk distances and calm traffic. Curb extensions can be painted asphalt with vertical separation elements or permanently installed as a literal extension of the curb and gutter of the roadway. Parklets and Curb Extensions
In 2024 there were 3 applications for qualifying streets submitted in the study area. This plan explores additional streets for which applications could be submitted, and identifies streets in need of traffic calming where speed limits should be reduced to better qualify for the program.
