03 Consider the feasibility of encouraging mixed-use development along the northern side of the currently channelized segment of Ryan Creek, where a restored Ryan Creek as a linear park would connect to and catalyze the multi block site. » Evaluate the potential for a public-private partnership should/ when the market support(s) this type of development. » Collaborate with partners working on homelessness, public safety, and crime prevention to address outstanding issues and perceptions of homelessness and crime in this creek corridor. 04 Work with Duke Energy to identify locations within the study area for lighting improvements. » Install additional LED street lights in areas without sufficient coverage. » Additionally, work with private parking lot owners to help brighten up particularly dark parking lots. 05 Enhance south Greensboro’s function as a welcoming gateway to the City. » Work with the community to identify significant gateways that define key entrances to the city, such as along Randleman Road and other key corridors. » Continue to build a program that creates design elements that clearly indicate to visitors that they have arrived in Greensboro and that make a positive and memorable first impression. 06 Coordinate with developments wanting to annex into the City. » Developments expecting to annex into the City will want to develop their project in accordance with City standards. City and county staff can help ensure developments have easy access to the standards that best meet expected needs. Explore “rural by design” and other ways of growth that preserve the character, scale, and history of the area.
