During the process, we heard that residents want access to fun, interactive, water play in various formats. • Add youth focused amenities to all recreation centers, especially those where youth programming is limited. Spaces and amenities need to support youth programming and activities such as multi-purpose activity space, computer/STEAM labs, electronic- oriented amenities. Key areas of focus are:

Action 4c. Distribute Community Hearts equitably throughout the city and provide for a range of activities and connections into the surrounding neighborhoods. Select multiple sites that are spread geographically across the city and can be implemented over time - The existing GIS database should be used as a resource to confirm this and maintain updated records. Community hearts should also: • Focus additional activity in large neighborhood parks and centers to become community gathering spaces. • Seek community input before investments are made to ensure local needs are met. • Collaborate with the city to improve trails and sidewalks around these hearts to encourage safer biking and walking. Include appropriately sized parking and transportation connections to local needs.

• Update facilities to include adaptive/ inclusive amenities in facilities that are not ADA compliant. • Create access to multi-purpose/activity space in existing recreation facilities. • Create a new senior center or convert an existing recreation center to accommodate senior services in western Greensboro, to serve more seniors and grow capacity to offer current and new programming. • Add new fitness/wellness facilities such as indoor gyms, outdoor multi- generational fitness equipment, and short level walking loops. • Further explore: first, the need for and, second, opportunities to provide new indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities.
