Sick of working out at home, but not ready to go inside a gym with strangers? Try out Parks and Recreation’s outdoor exercise centers instead. The department ofers a variety of outdoor equipment at parks small and large across Greensboro. The range from ninja warrior-style obstacle courses to adult-sized monkey bars to more traditional equipment like elliptical and stationary bikes. The equipment is free to use during park hours and is available for teens who are at least 14 years old and adults. Need some advice on how to use these ftness centers for an optimal workout? Some have on-site instructions. You can also check out the Parks and Recreation website, www.greens- boro-nc.gov/ftness, for tutorials. If you are new to exercise, don’t forget to check with your doctors about what kind of ftness regiment is right for you!
Want to Exercise? Henry Street Park , 3113 Henry St. Features bars, benches, and platforms for performing body weight and cardio exercises. Hester Park , 900 Block Ailanthus St. Obstacle course-style ftness area located in the forested area near the intersection of Ailanthus and Betula streets. The course includes agility stations like climbing nets, walls, and bridges. Keeley Park , 4100 Keeley Rd. Outdoor ftness area located on the western side of the park, across the parking lot from the community garden. It has a large variety of bars, platforms, and benches for a wide range of body weight exercises and a stationary bike. Steelman Park , 925 Highland Ave. Features kettle bell-style weights, an elliptical machine, bars and benches for strength training and cardio work- outs. On-site signage provides instruction on using the weights. Sussman Park, 299 Sussmans St. Features bars, benches, and platforms for performing chest, back, arms, abdominal, and leg workouts. Instruc- tions for a range of exercises are provided on site. 20
