Greensboro Parks and Recreation has launched its first new sport league in more than a decade – Greensboro
Parks and Recreation departments across the county are contemplating esports league options as private organizations and colleges have proven there is a demand for this kind of play. Three-quarters of US households own a device that they use to play video games, according to Gamesindustry.biz. To join Greensboro’s league, download the free Mission Control app. Upcoming league play will be advertised to league members and at www. greensboro-nc.gov/esports.
Esports. “The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is excited to expand its roster of family-friendly, competitive sport leagues with Greensboro Esports. This is going to be a great way to bring our community’s gamers together to develop their skills, make connections with new people, and have a blast doing it,” said Parks and Recreation Director Nasha McCray. The inaugural season started summer 2021, offering people aged 7 to adult to join game play for Madden 21, NBA 2K21, Fortnite, or Rocket League 2v2. New, six-week seasons start year-round, and games offered will change. There are separate age brackets for children and adults.
