South Greensboro is a community rich in cultural identity, shaped by generations of resilience, creativity, and deep-rooted pride in tradition. From backyard gardens to intergenerational caretaking, food, music, and storytelling, culture is a daily part of life. Stakeholders share a deep sense of pride in who they are and where they come from, visible in backyard gardens, passed-down recipes and family celebrations.

As south Greensboro continues to evolve, maintaining authenticity means centering long-time stakeholders’ traditions and voices while creating opportunities to celebrate and share culture in public life, through art, public space, and programming that welcomes and reflects all who live here. This chapter identifies strategies to preserve and amplify cultural expression, strengthen community identity, and ensure future investments reflect and respect the people who have long called this area home.
