Ryan Creek at Randleman Road 3
Draft
This area is a key piece of the open space system and planned greenway network. Given that much of this area is within a floodplain, a feasibility study is needed to more clearly identify installation and maintenance costs. However, this network expansion has the potential to be a key connector between Greenhaven, Shannon Woods and Shannon Hills parks to planned activity centers along Randleman Road. This area also has the potential to unify future parks and open spaces along Ryan Creek, especially where it merges with Buffalo Creek to the northeast. Finally, a new shared use path along Randleman Road from Creek Ridge Road north to Florida Street and the Southeast Greenway would connect south Greensboro to Downtown by a continuous network of off-street paths.
Opportunities: » Consider flood mitigation and/or stream restoration of Ryan Creek near Randleman Road and north of Creek Ridge Road; leverage this opportunity to create a linear open space on public property north of Creek Ridge Road. » Extend the existing greenway along Ryan Creek northeast from its current terminus at Greenhaven Park to connect to Randleman Road and existing bike lanes on Creek Ridge Road. » Create a shared use path alongside Randleman Road from the Creek Ridge Road intersection north to Florida Street and the Southeast Greenway, which connects directly to downtown.
