South Greensboro Area Plan - Public Review Draft - 9.25.25

Partnering with Local Artists and Organizations Local artists, schools, and nonprofits can be powerful partners in revitalization. Murals, performances, and community art projects not only beautify spaces but also reflect local identity and foster pride. Events like neighborhood clean ups or art walks can bring people together and build momentum for future improvements. These partnerships often require minimal funding but generate strong community engagement. Streamlining Permits and Support Municipalities can play a key role by making it easier for others to take action. Simplifying the permitting process for temporary uses— like sidewalk cafés, pop-up shops, or special events—can remove barriers for small businesses and community groups. Offering small grants, technical assistance, or promotional support can further empower local stakeholders to contribute to revitalization efforts.

Below is a list of top 10 actions that can be implemented immediately to improve the study area and build momentum for long-term transformation. Encourage private property owners to connect existing exterior cameras to the Police Department’s monitoring system. Identify gaps in monitoring where crime is common.
