Advancing the Ongoing Dialogue

The South Greensboro Area Plan builds on a foundation of prior community-based planning efforts that have shaped the vision and priorities of the area. In preparing this plan, three key documents were reviewed and synthesized: the 2023 Southeast Greensboro Coalition Proposal, the 2023 Greensboro Community Conversations (McAdams) , and the Southeast Greensboro Coalition Response and Proposal for Action . These documents reflect significant community engagement and time invested by residents and stakeholders. Their inclusion acknowledges past efforts and ensures continuity in addressing long-standing community goals. These plans provided additional understanding of residents’ concerns and are part of public input for the South Greensboro Area Plan. Some items in these reports are being considered and addressed during this planning process. The following pages summarize key themes and recommendations from these documents, with a map highlighting important locations and elements identified by the community.

This plan acknowledges and builds upon the dedicated efforts of the community in developing its own strategies, pinpointing critical issues, making requests, advocating for action, and collaborating with previous planning efforts. These community driven plans and discussions are integral to and reflected in this plan.

The South Greensboro Area Plan focused on the area outlined in green, which is directly south of Greensboro. This is slightly different than the area of concern for the Southeast Greensboro Coalition, who authored their own community plans and participated in the previous “Community Conversations” effort for the area (mentioned above and used for this analysis). This is why the term “southeast” is used in the following pages.
