South Greensboro Area Plan - Public Review Draft - 9.25.25

Redesigning the Randleman Road corridor with improved transit access and public realm enhancements can catalyze redevelopment and attract developers, nonprofits, and anchor institutions. The corridor suffers from aging strip malls, oversized parking lots, and poor pedestrian infrastructure. Urban design can help reconfigure these areas into compact, human scaled environments with mixed-use buildings, green infrastructure, and multimodal transportation. This improves environmental performance and supports a more resilient urban form. Appropriately scaled development ensures new buildings fit the context while introducing new energy and functionality. Ultimately, urban and community design in south Greensboro is about creating opportunity, fostering equity, and building places where people want to live, work, and thrive.
