Work with providers, code enforcement, and others to develop a strategy to aid and provide services for unsheltered population. » Community Resource Officers and the Community Safety Department can work with property owners to document and enforce trespassing concern. » Clarify how Community Safety, Community Resource Officers, and Code Compliance can work together to implement a plan for addressing homeless concerns in the area. 02 Continue to seek ways to assist private developers as they seek to redevelop vacant or underutilized properties in non-residential areas in south Greensboro. Staff is available through the development permitting process to assist private investors with a better understanding of the steps involved in: recombination of smaller properties to create larger lots for larger projects; development requirements; alignment with any City investments and construction schedules; and a clear understanding of infrastructure availability and connection requirements. 03 Support local entrepreneurs to improve the range and quality of businesses in the area. Leverage existing assets and explore new opportunities to attract investment to the area. » Facilitate incremental development in parking lots and underutilized areas, including short-term pop-up events and rentable spaces on outparcels. Possible pop ups could include purveyors such as farmer’s markets, to bring more healthy food options into the community. » Connect local entrepreneurs with partners and resources for education, mentorship, and funding streams to grow their businesses. » Help potential investors access data to help determine the feasibility and compatibility of new development or expansion ideas. 04 Identify opportunities to bring more entertainment options into the community and ensure existing venues and activities know the full range of marketing avenues the City provides.
