Alamance Church Rd dominated by distribution centers—large facilities used for storing and moving goods—which are essential to supply chains and regional commerce. Both the established industrial area in the north and the planned industrial area in the south (east of South Elm-Eugene Street and south of the Olympic Products facility) are positioned to benefit from potential spinoff industries related to the Liberty Mega Site. The northern area includes a mix of distribution centers, low-budget motels, and a large natural area along Buffalo Creek, with access to I-40 and US-421. The southern area, including land near the unincorporated edge and the intersection of US-421 and Edgemont Road, is drawing development interest. Protecting land for industrial use is important, as suitable sites are limited and these businesses provide jobs and economic support. Some industrial stakeholders have expressed interest in growing in place and improving walkability and access to amenities for their staff. However, impacts like truck traffic, noise, unattractive storage yards, and utilitarian landscapes must be addressed through collaboration with the community to support coexistence with nearby neighborhoods.
