Battle the boredom with these great programs. Ah summer. The weather is nice. School is out. Your teen has nothing to do. Ugh….your teen has nothing to do! Not to flex, but Parks and Recreation has it covered. “We know grownups are looking for ways to keep their teens engaged over the summer months. We’ve got a wide range of options to get them up out of bed, and off their phones, learning, playing, and having a blast this summer,” said Jennifer Hance, Parks and Recreation community
a nice way for them to explore some important topics in our community – from hunger to the inclusion of individuals with disabilities. This year, the camp adds a third week, designed to introduce teens to working with older adults. Counselor in Training (CIT) Is your high schooler nervously eyeing graduation, wondering if their resume is up-to-snuff? They can get a bit of real world experience serving as a counselor in training at one of our community recreation center day camps or Camp Joy. Youth Sumer Sports Clinics Summer is a great time to try something new. How about learning a new sport? Teens can try disc golf, golf, field hockey, pickleball, or lacrosse. Don’t miss out! Teen Night @ the Rec Teen Night smacks. Each night has its own vibe – glow-in the-dark skating, painting to hip hop, a b-ball tournie, and laser tag. Sign up at the beginning of summer and drop into any or all of the events, taking place at recreation centers citywide. And don’t forget to bring a friend! Xtreme Teen Outdoor Adventure Week Listen, staying inside all summer will give you a menty b. Get outdoors! Climb a rock. Paddle a kayak. This year the program has expanded to five full weeks. But don’t wait too long to sign up for this program – it is a sell-out every year.
