From the Director

• The Training Division completed 8,006 PIRT requests and Training Supervisor Mark Shepherd built six training consoles to provide a better experience for new trainees. • The GM911 Emergency Communications Division was credited with 49 life saves and processed more than 700,000 phone transactions. GM911 is progressive and responsive to the needs of our agencies and community. We stand ready to fulfill our role as the “First, First Responder.” I am very proud of the staff’s many accomplishments. Without its dedication and professionalism, GM911 would not fulfill our mission of providing high-level customer service to the community and our users.

Guilford Metro 9-1-1 (GM911) is the primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for enhanced 9-1-1 in Guilford County. The center provides 9-1-1, dispatch, and radio services for other cities, towns, and unincorporated areas in Guilford County and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) dispatch for the City of High Point. The department grew in places and employed upgraded equipment and strategies in 2024. The Operations Division staffing level increased for the first time in five years and the department as a whole remained progressive in many areas. Some of our prominent 2024 projects include: • The Technical Services Division added Guilford County Schools district to the system and completed Microsoft Security Updates to the radio system. • The Public Safety Information Technology Division installed new dispatch consoles at our backup site, started to implement new Hexagon Computer-Aided Design and Axon Records Management System software, and migrated from the NC Hosted Viper 2 (v 5.1) to the NC Hosted Viper 9 (v7) 9-1-1 phone system.
