Greensboro Plan2Play Parks and Recreation Master Plan 2019
GREENSBORO PLAN2PLAY MASTER PLAN - 91
• Explore techniques to expand funding including establishing a defined capital funding stream within the Department's annual budget. Mid-term (5-10 years) • Assess the quality and location of existing playgrounds. Work with Greensboro communities to identify the best locations for investments in new play structures or removal of play structures. • Address major identified deferred maintenance needs including life safety and ADA upgrades to all facilities. • Identify an additional 10-15 neighborhood parks for upgrades and begin outreach with neighborhoods that surround these parks to ensure the park upgrades meet community needs and aspirations. • Using existing GIS resources, develop a GIS-database to track investments in Department assets. • Upgrade at least one lake facility to create revenue generating activities and promote environmental education.
• Strategically plan for new park infill in areas of high need and acquire land near existing parks. Long-term (10-20 years) • Update deferred maintenance plan. METHODS FOR MEASURING GOAL ACCOMPLISHMENT • Track all park improvements with baseline amenities (percent of parks upgraded, number of park benches, number of playground improvements, people served within a quarter mile and a half mile) • Track ADA upgrades against ADA compliance system-wide (percent complete by park and facility) • Quantify return-on-investment for investments in downtown parks, sports venues, and other catalytic projects
