Community The City of Greensboro is located in the central piedmont of North Carolina, midway between Washington, D.C. and Atlanta. The city was incorporated in 1808 and is the county seat of Guilford County. Greensboro

has a population of 296,725 and presently covers a land area of approximately 135 square miles. In the past 10 years , population growth has averaged 1 to 2 percent per year , with the most notable increase of 5.7 percent occurring between 2007 and 2008, due primarily to significant City-initiated annexations in the northwest region. Since 2000, 16,374 acres were added or 26 square miles, an increase of 23 percent.

The City of Greensboro population has increased approximately 9.8% from 2010 – 2019. The City is racially and culturally diverse. The majority of residents are aged 25 to 64 years old, making up over half of the population. Unemployment rates for the City have declined steadily over the last 10 years. However in 2020, there is a sharp increase in unemployment rates, due largely to Covid-19.
