Downtown Streetscape Davie Street Project Overview

Downtown Streetscape Master Plan History

The Downtown Greensboro Streetscape Master Plan was made possible by $25 million in voter- approved Community and Economic Development Bond. Streetscaping serves as critical infrastructure to improve the pedestrian experience, encourage walking and biking, reduce automobile traffic, and improve the quality of experience downtown.

The purpose of the Downtown Greensboro Streetscape Master Plan is to create a cohesive overarching streetscape framework to guide development and improve the social, physical, and economic well-being of downtown.

Davie Street will become a more walkable and pedestrian-friendly environment. Buffered bike lanes will offer attractive and safe routes for bikes. Travel lane widths will be reduced to encourage slower speeds , and the sidewalks widened to as much as 17-feet. Double rows of trees will be added. Curb parking and stormwater planters will be added. February One Place will also be updated with decorative granite pavers featuring quotes from the Greensboro Four , honoring this block's place in civil rights history.
