CHALLENGER BASKETBALL & CHEERLEADING FREE Challenger Basketball and Cheerleading’s purpose is to give children and young adults with disabilities an opportunity to participate in a basketball league or join a cheerleading team. All of this is done in a safe, structured, and team environment. Smith Active Adult Center Ages 10-35 | January 17-March 6 | 10:30 am to 12:30 pm COMMUNITY DAY TRIPS FREE-$ Who doesn’t like to take an adventure? We will go throughout the community to explore new places and socialize with peers. Fees include transportation. Various Locations Tuesdays | Various times SPRING DANCE FREE Put on your dancing shoes and join your friends for the annual Spring dance! Lindley Recreation Center March 24 | 6-8 pm FRIDAY BOWLING WITH SOCIAL HOUR $ A weekly program for participants to bowl and socialize. Each participant has the opportunity to bowl two games. Adaptive equipment is available if needed. Fridays | February 6-April 24 | 10-11:30 am ICAN BIKE $$$$ This camp teaches individuals with disabilities how to ride a bike independently. Registration opens March 2. Greensboro Coliseum August (Specific dates TBA) | 9 am to 4 pm MOVIE DAY FREE Catch a movie and enjoy some of your favorite movie snacks. Open to individuals of all abilities.
Xperience @ Caldcleugh Ages 18+ | January 14, 28; February 11, 25; March 11, 25; April 8, 22; May 13, 27 | 1-3 pm | 336-373-4706 PGA HOPE FREE A free golf program for all military veterans that provides golf instruction taught by local PGA professionals. All abilities welcome and encouraged. Gillespie Golf Course Fridays | March 27-May 29 | 1-3 pm SIBSHOP FREE A free social support group for siblings of children with disabilities. Lindley Recreation Center 1st-6th grades | 3rd Fridays | January-April | 5:30-7 pm | 336-373-2930 TWEENS ON THE SCENE FREE-$ Participants enjoy social interactions while developing their independence, practical life skills, and building self confidence amongst peers in a fun, safe, and structured setting. Various Locations January 26, February 16 | 9:30 am to 2:30 pm INCLUSION SERVICES Please note all programs offered by Greensboro Parks and Recreation can offer adaptations for individuals who need accomodations. Make sure to request inclusion services when you register so the department can better serve you. Requests should be made when you register for a program, camp, or event and at least two weeks in advance of its start. This will allow us enough time to develop modifications and identify appropriate staff to have in place. Please note we do not provide one-on-one services.
