FromGridiron to Growth R.E.D. Zone Football gives kids a chance to play, lead, and learn. Ten years from now, kids from Parks and Recreation’s football league aren’t going to remember which games they won or lost, says Assistant Athletic Director Phil Hardin. But they’re going to remember stepping into the huddle with their friends. And all the things they learned out on the field – how to lead by calling the plays, how to work as a team, how to be confident – those are the things they will carry with them forever, Hardin says.

“We don’t get tied up with the wins and losses of it,” he says. “We get caught up with trying to make the young person the best player we can make them. We are teaching them some life lessons they can learn as they grow into an adult.” The City of Greensboro, High Point, and Thomasville have partnered up for R.E.D. Zone Football, a league that emphasizes the “recreation, education, and development.” Kids 7-12 can register for the 2022 fall sea son beginning June 6. R.E.D. Zone is affordable and convenient for families. Kids practice at the well-kept fields at Jaycee Park and most home games are held at the recently renovated Hester Park fields.
