Makers Way Gateway Gardens

will charge for food and drinks, and no outside drinks will be allowed. Saturday, July 19, Hester Park, 3615 Deutzia St., will host its family friendly Movie in the Park at 8:15 pm. Visitors are invited to bring a blanket to sprawl out onto the grass, and the Greensboro Police grill team will be on hand to serve up food. The movie will be decided on by a vote that can be flled out at tinyurl.com/GSOMovie2025. Last, but certainly not least, the second annual Makers Way at Gateway will cap of the month with one of the department’s favorite new events. Taking place on Sunday, July 27 from 1-4 pm at Gateway Gardens, 2800 E. Gate City Blvd., visitors are invited to stroll the gardens for this hands on demo event that will feature vendors of all kinds – from glass blowing to chocolate making, there will be “makers” of many interesting things on hand. There will also be live performances, and food trucks and beer and cider will be on tap.

This July celebrates the 40th anniversary of Park and Recreation Month, and the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is bringing back some of the crowd favorites that it has ofered up throughout the years. “Parks and Recreation Month is back, and we’re so excited to get folks out and into the parks to hangout and have fun,” said Jennifer Hance, the department’s community engagement coordinator. “Adult Recess has become a crowd favorite, while Movie in the Park and Makers Way are bringing entertainment to kids and adults alike” The festivities begin with one of the most popular oferings in Adult Recess on Friday, July 11 at the Barber Park Sprayground, 1500 Barber Park Dr. From 6-9 pm adults 21-and-up will get free rein of the area, where they will be able to enjoy music, dancing, nostalgic playground games, complete access to the sprayground, food and beverage vendors, and so much more. Admission to Adult Recess is free, and all attendees must present a valid ID for entry into the event. Vendors onsite
