RECREATION CENTER DAY CAMP 5-12 years | M-F | 7:30 am to 6 pm If your family needs affordability and convenience, you can’t beat the recreation center day camp. We offer camps at nine centers citywide, early-morning drop-off hours, and free lunch and breakfast for kids for just $85 per week. Fee assistance for families with financial need is also available. Kids, ages 5 to 12, in these camps also get special sessions from professionals across the department. They’ll learn camp songs, take music classes, learn some acting skills, and perfect their cannon balls alongside experienced staff. “All our staff are teachers or work in some atmosphere with kids. It’s not just college kids. It’s people with experience,” said Warnersville summer camp director Laronica Vance. CAMP JOY 5+ years | M-F | 9 am to 3 pm If you have a family member 5 years old or older with a disability, Camp Joy is a great way to get an inclusive summer camp experience. Camp Joy, located at Hagan-Stone Park in Pleasant Garden, has arts and crafts, fishing, daily swimming, and a camp talent show. There are special weeks for campers with developmental disabilities and visual and hearing impairments, but this camp is open for individuals of any ability. Fee assistance is available. Families should take note: All summer camps can offer adaptions for children who need an accommodation. Make sure to request inclusion services when you register so the department can better serve you.
