Discover Greensboro Fall 2026
MEET AND TREAT Sunday, October 18 | 4-6 pm Make your way down to the Downtown Greenway (Cairn’s Course, 501 Guilford Ave.) for a chance to do a little trick-or-treating with some of your favorite local mascots! Kids will get to collect treats while meeting mascots during a fun-filled adventure along the Downtown Greenway. Costumes are encouraged! GHOULASH! Saturday, October 24 | 2:30-5:30 pm Led by the Greensboro Youth Council (GYC), and in partnership with Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc., Ghoulash! is a celebration of all things Halloween for families, as many of the activities are geared toward children 12-and-under. Hosted in Center City Park and LeBauer Park in downtown Greensboro, the event will feature myriad activities from game booths to arts and crafts to roaming performers. There will also be bounce houses and inflatables that will require a $5 donation per child – which will go directly to GYC to support youth leadership, service projects, and events. Along with activities going on throughout the afternoon, there will also be a costume contest ($2 entry fee) for four different age groups, performances on the LeBauer Park stage, and a spooky Ghoulash Unliving History & More tour at The Greensboro
Participants and doggos alike are encourage to show up in their best costumes to enjoy a fun Halloween event that will include trick-or-treat goodies for both humans and dogs alike, along with a pet costume contest. PUMPKIN SMASH Saturday, November 7 | 10 am to 12 noon Everyone loves a jack-o’-lantern. Carving up a pumpkin to add a silly or scary face to it is one of the oldest Halloween traditions around – it’s quite a lot of fun. But what do you actually do with it after it’s been sitting around for a week or so and begins to look – and smell – a bit… gross? Well Greensboro Parks & Recreation has a solution – one that you’re going to love, especially if you enjoy smashing things. Bring your old pumpkins out to Lake Brandt to dispose of them in Medieval fashion by using a homemade pumpkin slingshot to turn your guard into an exploded mess! If you want to do something a little more hands on, grab one of the sledgehammers and go to town instead. And oh, don’t worry about the mess, as all of the pumpkin remains will be collected and used for composting. Want to learn more?
